Our lifestyle is the sum of all our actions. It is the single greatest thing we can study for the impact it has is infinite. We live our lives without giving much thought to it. As if we are sailing along an ocean in which nature dictates our course. We treat each area of our lifestyle as if it is its own world, one where reason is not uniform. We tend to have many selves that live in each world and has no access to the other selves. If one were to see the worlds of your lifestyle together next to one another, they would proclaim that the person must be crazy. Yet the person sits there, with all the resolve in the world that their life is but a united story of who they are; a rational and consistent person.
Our Principles
We believe that we are something; a self. We identify ourselves as something with static properties. That we are people of principles that help us navigate the world around us. Generally we pick ones that cast us in a favorable light, but none the less we use them to describe who we are to other people. The accuracy of how we describe ourselves and the actions we actually take is generally used to show how well we know ourselves. From these principles, we believe all of our actions are guided.
This obviously fails to take into account the complexity of making choices. When making most of our choices we do not spend the time to consciously choose what influences our decisions. In the moment, we tend to make decisions subconsciously using a formula that is both unknown to us and riddled with mental heuristics. This leads us to the need for us to consciously evaluate how we want to live our lives and the resulting choices that would follow. For us to live according to our principles, we must know what that truly means.
The Grand Design
To design our lives is to think about our lives. Not as a specific topic but as a whole. From what guides us fundamentally to the actions we take daily. The study and implementation of our lifestyle puts us back in the driver seat of our lives. We must set our sights on choosing who we want to be and following through to becoming it. To create a grand design for our lives that lead us to becoming our true selves.
